

Joe Lyons, age 73, passed away on April 7, 2014 in Houston, Texas. Joe was born on May 1, 1940 in London, England to parents Martin Lyons and Kathleen Lyons. As a young man Joe enjoyed cycling and playing rugby for Hendon R.F.C. This passion for sports continued throughout his life. Joe was an avid follower of British soccer, and his preferred team was Chelsea in the Premier League. Other interests included discussing current affairs, gardening, spending time with his grandsons; following their sports activities and giving his beloved rabbit, Harvey, lots of attention and food! Harvey passed away the same day as Joe.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Martin Lyons and mother Kathleen Lyons, daughter, Julie Amanda Lyons, brothers, Patrick James Lyons and Michael John Lyons. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Chris Lyons; daughter Michele J. Williams, son-in-law, Kenneth Williams, son, Paul B. Lyons, daughter-in-law, Brandi Lyons and grandsons, Joseph Andrew Lyons and Patrick Christopher Lyons all residing in Houston, TX. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anne and Michael O’Neill, County Galway, Ireland, nieces, Jacqueline Ahearne and husband Alan, Siobhan Loughney and husband Stephen, nephews, Michael O’Neill and wife Berni, Philip O’Neill and wife Eilis. Special mention of nine very loved great nieces and nephews, all residing in County Galway, Ireland. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Irene and Bill Lawder, Sugar Land, TX, nephews, Nicholas, Gregory and Alexander Lyons and great niece Mia Lyons. Sister-in-law Rae Lyons, New Plymouth, New Zealand, nieces, Kate Lyons and Claire Lyons, and two great nephews, Vaughn and Zac. Plus special friends of 60 years, John and Shirley Jackson, Sandy, Bedfordshire in England.
