Joe Mata, Jr., 77, of Houston, passed away on September 17, 2026 in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, on October 7, 2026 at 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079 with Father Troy of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Garden Oaks Funeral Home.
Joe was born on September 16, 1949, to Joe Sr., and Olivia (Reyna) Mata.
He married Dora Garcia on August 26, 1972, in Wharton, Texas. He graduated from the University of Houston and was a proud Cougar alum. He worked as a Production Manager for Toshiba for 30 years, a mortgage loan officer at Hometrust Mortgage for 10 years, and a Senior Consultant for Nuhome Mortgage Group for 3 years. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus, as a Commander of the 4th degree, Vice President of the Association of the United States Army Houston Metroplex Chapter, Officer of the Houston Metroplex Veterans Lions Club, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Tejano Center, and a very proud member of the Silver Eagle Golf Club.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Joe Sr. & Olivia, Brothers Henry and David, and Sisters Irene and Nieves.
Joe is survived by Wife Dora, Daughter Barbi, Son Christopher & Daughter-in-Law Sarah, Brother Jesse, and Sisters Lupe, Mary Alice & Delores.
