Joe W. McFarland

He worked for Henke and Pilot as the assistant manager in 1960 in Houston. Joe met his wife, Margaret working behind the bakery counter during her senior year of high school. Joe introduced himself and soon after the first meeting, Joe made plans to make Margaret his wife. He took Margaret on their first date to Valiance Restaurant, where she tried pizza for the first time! Joe proposed to Margaret a few months later at her senior prom. This was only the start to a loving and lasting marriage. Joe and Margaret had 3 children together: Darrell Ray McFarland, Stephen Vaughn McFarland, and Darla Kay McFarland. Darrell and Stephen went on to marry Deborah and Debra, resulting in two Debbie McFarlands.

Darla had the first grandchild, Wayne McFarland, who later married Brianna. Darrell and Debbie had the last two grandchildren: Meghan Elizabeth McFarland, who later married Jesse Holstine and Caitlin Nicole McFarland, who later married Thomas Bowman.

Joe and Margaret hosted countless sleepovers and exciting summers for their grandkids that included swimming, fishing, boat rides, Friday Pizza nights, and movies.

Wayne, the first grandkid, had the first great-grandchildren of Joe and Margaret: Lola, Amirya, and Josiah McFarland. Caitlin, the third grandkid, had the next great-grandchildren of Joe and Margaret: Vincent and Charlotte Bowman

Joe and Margaret were members of the United Methodist Church in Houston until they moved to Willis Texas in the late '80s where they would become members of the First Methodist Church in Conroe, Texas. Joe was a devout Christian and an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son-in-law, cousin and friend.

Joe is survived by his wife, Margaret, his second born son Stephen Vaughn(wife Debbie), and his daughter Darla Kay. He is survived by his grandchildren, Wayne(wife: Brianna), Meghan(husband:Jesse) and Caitlin(husband: Thomas). He is survived by his great grandchildren, Lola, Amirya, Josiah, Vincent, and Charlotte. Joe is survived by his sisters: Peggy Madray and Joyce Vervalin, sister-in-law Joanne McFarland.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Horatio Campbell "HC" McFarland and Opal McFarland. His father-in-law, Clarence Jake Walpole and Mother-in-law, Bertie Walpole, Brother-in-law, Don Vervalin. He is also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Deborah "Debbie" McFarland, brother William Burke McFarland and son, Darrell Ray McFarland.
