Joe Mike McKinney

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 28 years, Luanne, and their two children, Conor and Darby Anne; his two daughters, Marissa Easterling (David) of Dallas; Michelle Frymire (Rich) of Memphis, and six grandchildren; also his sister-in-law, Susie McMichael, and two nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, G. S. and Edith McKinney and his brother, Steele McKinney

Joe Mike was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Kilgore, TX. He graduated from Texas Tech and began a long career as an engineer in the oil and gas industry. His career stops included Exxon, Superior Oil and Union Texas Petroleum. He was a mentor and friend to many.

He was an extraordinarily kind man with a dry quick wit. He and Luanne were long-time Astros fans and were 30-year season ticket holders.

A Celebration of Life service will be 12:30 pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024 with a reception to follow at the church. Prior to the memorial service the family will have gathered for a private interment.
