

He was born in Columbus, Texas on the 26th of March 1930, a wonderful and devoted son to Jesusa and Mariano Ramos. In 1948, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and during the Korean Conflict SSgt Joe Ramos served two tours of duty. Most notably, Joe was honored with a Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, and various other honors.
Following the war, Joe returned to El Campo and married Maria Magdalena Jauregui, who remained his faithful and steadfast companion for 56 years.
He attended the University of Houston and worked for Whitlow Steel and Houston Steel Services as an Accountant before starting his own accounting business.
He is preceded in death by his parents and Thomas Theodore Osterman, his son-in-law.
Surviving Joe are children: Sons Joe Ramos, Jr. and his wife Ruth, Greg Ramos and his wife Dang, and daughters Cynthia Ramos Osterman and Lieutenant Linda Ramos Zamora and her husband retired Lieutenant Manuel F. Zamora, Ph. D.; grandchildren Edward Ramos and his wife Nerissa, Samantha Salas, Gregory Ramos, Jr., Jacob Ramos and his wife Emily, Amanda Ramos, Elijah Flores, and Nacol Stewart; great grandchildren Naomi, Micah J., Christian, Justin, Gabriela, Myles, Monte, Alyssa, Hunter; and siblings Angie Ruiz and husband Joel, Ruth Ann Stewart, Alicia Martinez and husband David, and Richard Ramos.
A highly decorated United States Marine Corps Veteran, SSgt Joe Ramos will be interred with military honors at the Arlington National Cemetery, 1 Memorial Drive, Arlington, Virginia, 22202.
