Joe R. Rivera

Joe R. Rivera, 69 of Houston, Texas went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2015. He attended Charles H. Milby High School and graduated with the class of 1965. He joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1965-1975. His service included two Vietnam Tours. He serviced honorably to our great nation and obtained the rank of a Staff sargent. He was born in Honduras and became a naturalized American Citizen in 1972. Upon completing of his service he returned to Houston in 1975 where he married and had two children, Latisha and Joey Jr. The children provided Joe with 8 grandchildren. He later divorced and never remarried. He attended the University of Houston and other varies colleges and enjoyed chemistry/math courses. He loved football and all other sports. At the time of his death he was retired. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leticia Rivera and Efrain Rivera Sr., his step-sister Marta McGrath Kohutich. He is survived by his loving and caring family; daughter Latisha and his son Joey Rivera and wife Veronica Rivera and two kids, his sister Sonia Rivera and children Billy Robert Rivera, Michele Gonzalez, Melissa Gonzalez, Stephanie Sandoval and 5 grandchildren; his brother Dr. Efrain Rivera Jr. and wife Diane Rivera and three children; Efren Rivera and Lisa Rivera and one son; Jimmy E. Rivera and four children and Carlos Rivera and four children. The family will receive friends and family Friday, December 22, 2015 at Crespo Funeral Home, 4136 Broadway Street, Houston, TX 77087 beginning at 4:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass the following day at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
