A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife of many years, Peggy, and their three sons: Bailey, Andrew, and Miller. He was a man of quiet strength, enduring values, and deep commitment to family.
Before being drafted into the U.S. Army near the end of the Korean War, Joe worked in his family’s neighborhood grocery store in Houston, Texas. After his military service, he returned to the family business and continued building a life rooted in hard work and service.
Over the course of more than five decades, Joe was involved in several family-run ventures—first helping manage the grocery store, later working in a relative’s Chinese restaurant in Temple, and eventually becoming the proud owner of his own Chinese restaurant in Austin, The Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant. Known for his culinary talent, Joe was respected not only as a skilled chef but also as a fair and compassionate business owner. His honesty, humility, and generosity touched the lives of many.
In his mid-40s, Joe discovered a love for freshwater fishing. Rain or shine, he could often be found on his bass boat at Belton Lake—on weekdays with his beloved wife Peggy, and on weekends with his sons. He often said, “Fishing teaches patience,” a reflection of the calm, steady presence he brought to those around him.
After retiring, Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and took several trips to China with tour groups, reconnecting with his heritage and sharing stories from his early life.
Joe is survived by his wife Peggy; sons Bailey (Jillian), Andrew (Cyndi), and Miller (Jean); and grandchildren Jacquelyn Yuan (Jason), Tia, Collin, Dylan, Matthew (fiancée Sherry Zhang), Alexander, and Kayla.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet wisdom, and deep love for his family—values that continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to VITAS Healthcare for their compassionate and dedicated care of Joe during the final months of his life.
