Joe A. Vega, 55, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019.

He was born in Houston, Texas on July 26, 1963. Joe graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, class of 1981. He was married to Sandra C. Vega on March 11, 1995.

Joe was a Senior Police Officer for the Houston Police Department, Academy Class #129, and proudly served for 31 years. During his time on the force, he served Northwest, Jail, Traffic/Accident, and Traffic Enforcement and Vehicular Crimes divisions. Due to his health, he retired from the police force on December 16, 2016. Joe was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church for many years. When not serving the community, Joe was always helping out his friends and family. He loved to be a part of everything. His hobbies included making custom silk screen t-shirts and construction projects. His passion for construction led to building his home that he shared with his wife and kids. Joe loved a good rivalry with his wife when it came to sports. One thing that never changed was his love for the Dallas Cowboys.

Joe was a great provider and worked non-stop. He was a jack of all trades. If he didn’t know something, he would figure it out just to prove you wrong.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra C. Vega, children Monica Noriega, husband Edward, Joe Vega Jr., wife Dania, Mark Vega, Rosie Vega and Matthew Vega, grandchildren Anthony Noriega, Tessa Noriega, Alyssa Vega, Joe Vega III, mother, Bessie Vega, siblings Greg, wife Nancy, Sandy and Cindy, husband Luis, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Armando R. Vega.

My DEEPEST Condolences to the Vega Family, I just found out about his passing just yesterday Evening, Joey patrolled the North Central Area when I was a Teenager and I'll be Completely Honest, I was following the Wrong Crowd and Influenced by PEER PRESSURE and made some BAD choices and decisions in those Days. I was FORTUNATE enough to be Friended by Joey and another officer in the area Daniel Wheeler, these officers gave me Words of Inspiration and STRONG INFLUENCE which Overtime help me Correct my Lifestyle and Move on to BIGGER and BETTER things in LIFE...... YOU will be Deeply missed Mr. Joey Vega Sir.......... I SALUTE YOU, REST IN PEACE!!!

Joey,
My Deepest Condolences to the Vega Family.
I knew Joey since my childhood, his Grandmother (Señora Virginia) lived next door to our house, so we all use to play together with him & his siblings as well as mine when they to used to visit their Grandmother. We both graduated from Jefferson Davis Senior High School, Class of 1981. The last time I saw Joey was at our 34 year Class reunion and as always....he was such a chirpy and hilarious guy, always making you laugh.... I will always remember him that way. May you Rest In Peace, Joe Armando Vega.
