Joel Niyi Adewumi, affectionately known as 'Niyi Soro' by friends, passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on October 1, 1970, in Lagos, Nigeria, Joel was a beloved, brave, and cherished individual who touched the lives of many with his compassionate and generous spirit.
Niyi Soro's early life began in Lagos, Nigeria, where he attended Federal Government College in Ogbomosho, Oyo State. He furthered his education at Ondo State University in Adobe Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. His career was marked by his dedication to Home Healthcare Management, where he was known for being hard-working and inspirational.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Olaniyi Adewumi and Mojisade Ajibade. Joel was a devoted family man, survived by his wife, Violet Omolara Adewumi, and their children: Eniola Adewumi, Oluwasefunmi Adewumi, and Oyinlola Adewumi. He was a faithful and thoughtful husband and father, whose wise and humorous nature brought joy to his family and friends.
In his personal life, Joel had a passion for soccer, often playing as a goalkeeper. He enjoyed listening to 80s and 90s music, particularly Michael Jackson, and was known for his love of dancing and spending quality time with his family. His favorite color was blue.
Mr. Adewumi was a very funny and easy-going man. He was rarely upset and always eager to put a smile on the faces of those around him. His humor was contagious, and his kindness and tender heart will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on October 9, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, located at 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, with the committal service taking place at 12:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, the final resting place for Joel.
