Born in Paco, Manila, Philippines, to Arcadio and Erlinda Sampang, Joel earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from San Beda College (now San Beda University) in Manila. On March 18, 1991, he married his sweetheart, Lerma “Pinky” Sarinas, and together they built a loving home blessed with four children.
Joel worked as a Senior Accountant at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor International, where his dedication and integrity were widely respected. Outside of work, Joel lived a vibrant and active life. He was a proud member of the American Racing Pigeon Union Inc., Fil-Am & Friends Bowling League, Houston Men’s Petroleum Bowling League, and Church at the Cross.
A man of many talents, Joel was a gifted chess player who proudly represented the Filipino community in tournaments across the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. He was crowned Chess Champion in Dubai and led several bowling league teams to championship victories. He was also a devoted pigeon enthusiast and a talented singer, he could belt out a song to everyone’s admiration. He loves to serenade his wife and offer songs of praise to Jesus, our Savior. Above all, he is a champion for the cause of our Lord Jesus Christ, staunch supporter of expanding His Kingdom and bringing souls to heaven. He was an active evangelist in his younger years and recently shared his blessings to feeding impoverished children who live in the cemetery in the Philippines.
Joel is preceded in death by his father, Arcadio Sampang, and his youngest brother, Ferdinand Sampang.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pinky; their children, Joler, Maria, Joseph, and Daniel; his mother, Erlinda; his siblings, Marlon, Rose, Jhune, and Arcade; and his cherished granddaughter, Willow.
The Sampang family extends their deepest gratitude to all who offered prayers, comfort, and kind words during this time. A celebration of Joel’s life will be held on August 4, 2025. We hope you can join us in honoring a life so beautifully lived.
"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life."
