
John Edward Chenevey, “Uncle John", born October 28, 1917, in Apple Creek, Ohio, died peacefully at home in Houston, Texas, on September 15, 2013. His is the American story, the youngest child of 10; his parents were Laura (Walter) and Hubert Chenevey. John was educated in a one-room schoolhouse that he walked 3 miles everyday to attend. He graduated with a chemical engineering degree from Ohio State and made his career as a chemical process engineer with several oil companies including Standard Oil of New York, Lyondell Chemicals in Houston as well as other companies serving the oil and gas industry in the Houston area. John married the very lovely Yvette Marie Poujol of Houston, Texas on June 25, 1955. They enjoyed many years traveling extensively around the world, taking pictures, collecting memorabilia of the different cultures and making friends everywhere they visited. John is preceded in death by Yvette, his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. He was a longtime parishioner of Corpus Christie Catholic Church in Houston. John lived his American dream and will be remembered dearly by his Poujol family, his Chenevey family in Ohio and his neighbor Carolynne Fabry of La Ferte’-Bernard, France.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, with the funeral service to follow at 10:00am, on Thursday, September 19, 2013, in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Interment to follow in the Garden of Gethsemani at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Corpus Christie Catholic Church, 9900 Stella Link Rd., Houston, TX 77025 will be appreciated.
