He was married to Rose Marie Hrncir for 63 blessed years and together they built a wonderful family. John served his country as a sailor in the Navy during World War II and The Korean War. Following military service, he built a successful career in insurance with the Motors Insurance Corporation. John was active within his community serving as a dedicated member of KJT (Catholic Union of Texas), the American Legion, Czech Center Museum Houston, and St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. John was a loving husband and father who was dedicated to his family. He had a passion for helping others and was an esteemed member of the community. John and Rose formerly were members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Missouri City, Texas and St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugarland, Texas.
John is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie, and their five daughters, Rosalyn Leger, Mary Hebert and husband Randy, Andrea Fuqua and husband Myles, Sharon Kiel and husband Jeff, and Kathy Hauser and husband Jim; fourteen grandchildren, Rod and Margaret Leger, Michael and Silvia Leger, Tony Wayne and Sarah Leger, David Leger, Jake Slagle, Lexie Fuqua, Austin Kiel, Savannah Kiel, Trinity Kiel, Riley Kiel, Sawyer Kiel, Katie Hauser, Kristyn Hauser, and Joseph Hauser; and six great-grandchildren, Estrella, Raven, Murphy, Levi, Harley, and Kadence.
A Visitation will be held in John’s honor on Saturday, May 5, 2018, beginning at 9:00 a.m. inside of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 10135 West Road, Houston, Texas 77064, with a Rosary being performed at 10:00 a.m. His Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. inside of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. The family would like to invite you to join them at a reception inside of the Gajowniczek Hall of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church which will begin at 11:30 a.m., after the services for Mr. John Deathe have concluded on Saturday morning. The interment will take place at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, 77038 on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Catholic Relief Services, The American Legion, or to the Czech Center.
