Our families regret to announce the call to glory of their beloved son, father, grand father and a friend of all.
JOHN IMASUEN KINGSLEY IGORI (Brother JB)
Born on January 7, 1947 and died December 21, 2017.
JB as everyone calls him was born in 1947 to the noble families of Egite, Ogbebor n’Usen of Benin and Amadasun, Osula also of Benin.
His parents were Mr Edward Obasuyi Igori and Madam Elizabeth Ayemwowan Amadasun both of blessed Memory. He lived most of his early life with his paternal grand father, Pa Charles Oni Obazee Igori one among the first nine Binis that were educated in Hope Waddel Institute, Calabar in 1897.
He attended St. Peters Anglican School, Benin city, followed by a two year stint in then Model School. He later gained admission into the prestigious Eghosa Anglican Grammar School, Benin city.
He took up appointment with then Midwestern state of Nigeria ministry of education in Benin City, where he served meritoriously until the summer of 1975 when he decided in his infinite quest for knowledge and left for the United States of America for further studies.
He attended Voorhees College, South Carolina & then Rutgers S. University, New Jersey. Then moved to Houston Texas to meet his cousin Anne Osagie Amadasun. Enrolled at Texas Southern University, Houston where he obtained his Masters Degree in Business Administration (First Degree was in Banking & Finance). He worked for Brown & Root Engineering Company (now KBR) and then in the Banking industry with Bank of America.
Brother JB, you were a man of Integrity, good character, high standards and morals, you were a great inspiration…
He is survived by: Adesuwa daughter, Iredia son, Kennetria grand daughter and the following brothers and sisters: Ms. Clara Igbinedion; Eson & Mrs Osariemen Ekhator-Obasogie; Edwyn Osamwonyi Igori; Joseph Amadasun; Mrs. Glady Igori-Woghiren; Ms. Gloria Igori; Mrs Lilian Osughe Igori-Okhions; Mr Osatohamwen Igori; Ms. Omosukpon; Ms. Ekomwenrenren and Ms Diana Osarumwense Igori. Priscilla Diane Lewis-Igori mother of his children and a trusted great friend.
JB loved his children as well as his brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces and FRIENDS.
The families are eternally grateful to brothers, Edward Oronsaye (US colonel Rtd), his baby brother Joseph Amadasun (Big Joe), Aunty Anne Osagie Amadasun (JB “girlfriend”) above all Adesuwa Igori and others too numerous to mention here, for their love and care to JB.
His love for others was so real and profound. I called him brother JB but he called me “chief” though many years his junior, his own way of showing love and accessibility to others in absolute humility. Missing you greatly already brother JB.
John Imasuen Kingsley Igori was a resident of Houston, Texas, USA at the time of his passing.

Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Advantage Funeral Home, 7010 Chetwood Dr. Houston, Texas 77081. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10 am at Advantage Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2426 Cullen Blvd. Pearland, Texas.
