John was a daily morning reminder of the core values of the company.  He was present, positive and kind.  He will long be remembered.  Sincere condolences to the family.

From his love for his family and church to his career in law enforcement, and the work he did here at SCI, John's kindness, care, and dedication will not be forgotten. So incredibly sad to hear of John's passing. He carried such joy in his heart and shared it so freely. Few people touch lives in between the lines of busy lives and schedules, John was one of those. He will be missed dearly.

John was always a bright spot in the mornings heading into the office. He always had a friendly greeting and remembered everyone's name. I started as an intern at SCI not yet having the confidence that comes with experience. In my early career, many days I walked into the office unsure and not knowing what the next day, week, month or year would hold. It was tough! Sometimes on mornings where it had really been hard to get out of bed, or I was feeling really down - his simple kindness first thing in the morning was enough to brighten my day and help me know that I mattered, things would get better and to keep going. If his small gesture did that for me, imagine how many others were touched in the same way over the years. It reminds us all that small gestures go such a long way. He was an exceptional man who was very kind to not only me, but also my young daughter I had to bring into the office occasionally when I didn't have childcare. 

I had the pleasure of working with his son, Elan, when he was an intern in our Marketing Department. He was an exceptional young man and I was so excited to have him join our team. Sincere condolences to Elan and the rest of John's family. John will be missed by so many.

I was deeply saddened to hear about John's passing. He was such a kind and caring person. Without fail anytime I went to the office (even after I moved away), he was sure to ask about not only myself but also about my husband and my children. John's legacy of kindness and family devotion will always be remembered. Please know that my thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

I was saddened to learn of John's passing. Every time I went to corporate to sign in I was greeted with a smile and a hello. I feel privileged to have known him and I considered him a friend. Rest easy.

We had the privilege of knowing John through his role as an officer at our building, but our conversations often extended far beyond work. We frequently talked about our families, especially our sons, who were about the same age. It was clear how deeply he loved his family, and those moments of sharing stories created a respect and insight into who he was as a husband and father.

John had a wonderful personality — always full of smiles, warmth, and positivity. He had a way of making people feel safe not just because of his role, but because of his genuine kindness. Yet, when duty called, that smile would fade as he sprang into action, handling every situation with focus, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.

He balanced warmth and strength in a way few can, and his presence left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his kindness, dedication, and the love he showed for his family will remain in our hearts.

John was always a smiling, friendly, face at SCI.  I was always taken aback that he remembered me the 2-3 times a year that I would come up to the office to have lunch with my husband or drive him home.  He also remembered our son's name and always asked how he was doing.  

When my husband shared this news with me, I audibly gasped and said - "OH NO" out loud.  I am heart-broken for John's family and close friends. 

He touched lives.  This is SO evident. I pray that you seek comfort in all of the wonderful memories you have with him.

Please accept my deepest sympathy.  I was so saddened to hear about the loss of John.   I pray the wonderful memories you have made give you comfort in the difficult days ahead.

His joy was truly infectious, and his ability to remember even the smallest details—like my birthday and my daughter's, which was close to his—spoke volumes about the kind of person he was.

I worked at SCI for 10 years and got to know John well at that time. He was always the sweetest person with a smile on his face.  For years after I left the company, he would always email me on my birthday as we  both have September birthdays. That’s just how he was…so very thoughtful, special and kind. Prayers for his beloved family during this time. He was so proud of you all. Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus my friend.

I miss John very much. I used to call him Batman because of all of the Batman things he had in his office. I looked forward to seeing him every morning when he would come get a soda from the machine near my desk. He would always brighten my morning. His loss is a tragedy. He will never be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing; he was always so gracious and friendly when I had to go to Corporate.  He was a busy man, but always had time for a smile and warm 'Hello'..... he will definitely be missed.  Rest in Peace John !

My deepest condolences to the family. I had the privilege of knowing John for over 13 years, and I will truly miss his smile and warm greetings. He was a kind, dedicated individual, and a great law enforcer. I always felt safe and well protected under his leadership of the security team. My prayers are with the family for strength, peace, and unity during this difficult time.

I didn't know John well, as we never met in person, but he has been a steady presence at work since 2019. He was always kind, helpful, and available to help us navigate difficult situations that we came across. Rest in peace John and may the love that you shared bring warmth and comfort to your friends and family.

I'm heartbroken. Every morning as I entered the building for 22 years.....I'd say, "Good morning, Captain". He always responded back with a "Hey Jon". We often shared short conversations about family, faith and other topics we had similar interests in. There was such a calming aura with John that made you feel loved and safe. His diligence to secure our safety at work was impeccable, but the man behind the uniform was what I loved the most. Rest easy Captain.....this is not a goodbye, it's a see ya later pal. Well done, good and faithful servant!!
