John William Jacobs graced the world with his presence on September 21, 1959, born to the proud parents Denver and Ethelean Jacobs. He accepted Christ at a young age and lived a life of faith and service.
Early Life & Education
John attended W.E. Rogers Elementary, Northwood Middle School, and Forest Brook High School in Houston, Texas.
Work & Passions
He worked for Jacobs Stern and Son and Russell and Smith Parts. To many, he was also known simply as “the barbecue man,” bringing people together with his food, laughter, and big heart.
Preceded in Death
John was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Ethelean Jacobs; his grandparents, Elbert and Katie Lee James; his brother, Dennis Ray Jacobs; his sister, Brenda Jacobs; and his niece, Neoucha Spellman.
Cherished Memories
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Donovan; his daughter, Tierra; his three sisters, Wanda, Vera, and Marlene; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Special Friends
John also cherished Michael Allen (Cody), Cynthia Pennyman Allen (Red), and Janeior and Michelle. They were there till the very end.
Visitation will be held at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, US, on April 25, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Paradise Cemetery North, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, US, on April 25, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
