

Predeceased in death by Parents José Garza Jimenez and Josefa Rubio Jimenez, Daughter Andrea Maria Jimenez Islam, Sisters Frances E. Jimenez Gonzales and Eloise J. Whitlock, and step-daughter Lori Y. Diaz Fabijaki.
Survived by Cherished Family - Son Joseph A. Jimenez and his children, Daniel C. Lepsch, Jacqueline M. Mireles, Alexandra Thompson and husband Frank, great granddaughter Mia Rose Thompson; Daughter Theresa M. Jimenez and her children Adrian C. Jimenez, Ethan T. Jimenez, Ari R. Jimenez, Jacob C. Mahecha; Daughter Melissa M. Jimenez Williams and fiance Eliot K. Smith and her children Ethan A. Smith (step-son), Dylan C. Smithwick and Joshua J. Williams; Wife Maria F. Jimenez, Sisters Herlinda J. Gentry and husband Virgil Gentry, and M. Elena Gonzalez and numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle John. He also leaves in grief many, many dear and cherished friends.
After high school, John served in the Coast Guard as a Gunner’s Mate contributing in various tasks to protect and prepare his shipmates so they could, as a unit, keep our nation safe. He received an Honorable Discharge. For his final resting place, his ashes will be placed in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Date and time will be updated.
John worked as an engineer in the petrochemical industry for many years for various companies including DuPont, Bechtel and Eastman Kodak. In his later years, he operated a cross-country trucking company owned by his wife Maria. He did enjoy a few years of retirement before his illness.
In John’s younger years, he volunteered in a children’s bus ministry in League City, Texas. He finished his volunteer service to the Lord by teaching in the English Connect Program offered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. John’s faith and kindness led him to be generous to those in need.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in John’s name to any cancer research program or to a charity or research program of your choice.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10am at the Fallbrook Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 7699 Fallbrook Drive, Houston, Texas 77086. A light potluck lunch will be served afterwards in the church cultural hall.
