GRAMPA, its Rachel  and Steven and I are so sorry we missed the funeral, but we're so honored to have spent our lives with you. Just this moment I smiled in awe....your funeral was on the 26th anniversary of my salvation. GRAMPA, please kiss mommy and enjoy those streets of gold :)

I am saddened by your loss. James Dixon lanehart was my grandfather.

Uncle John was a man I looked up to. A true man of God and family and business.
I will cherish his memory.

I had the fortune of being around  "Shirley's dad"  a few times, once in their home in Houston, once in Blanco and once in Austin.  It was clear to me he loved his family. He seemed a quiet gentle man, very hospitable and welcoming to me. As the center of the family I know he will be missed.

Like Mary, I too have fond memories of growing up with Uncle John and Aunt Rene.  They always made time to get with Mama and Daddy either in Houston or in Bryan. It seemed like at least once a month.  When all of us cousins were growing up, they shared a fence. It went back and forth between Houston and Bryan so many years, I'm not sure who wound up with it.  I loved the way Uncle John and Daddy would talk with each other while us kids were playing.  I will surely miss him and pray that Jesus will be close to Aunt Rene and my cousins during this time of grieving.

I will always remember Uncle John smiling and visiting with my dad drinking pots of coffee. I remember him holding up a gigantic snake at blanco with a huge smile showing us what he had killed in the sugar can field he had. I'm sure glad that thing was dead!  Late evenings afer dinner swinging on the porch swing listening to the adults "catch up" eating peanuts and candycorn and listening to all of nature. Uncle was such a gentle heart and loved his family deeply. We will miss you.

I only met Mr. & Mrs. Lanehart once, but have met his wonderful children, and Shirley is a long-time friend. May you all be wrapped in the peace & comfort of God's love as you grieve this loss. I know you'll miss him.

I had the good fortune to work for Lanehart Electric in the early 1980's. John Sr. was a man of principle and highly respected. The world is a worse place without him. To the extended Lanehart family, so very sorry for your loss.
