John Larue

Born on August 11, 1989, in Houston, Texas, John was the fourth child of Wintress and Eddie LaRue, and a cherished twin brother. He was raised in Missouri City, where his roots ran deep and where he developed a strong sense of community, faith, and service. A proud graduate of Thurgood Marshall High School, Class of 2008, John stood out early on for his integrity, calm presence, and unshakable commitment to doing what was right.

John pursued his passion for justice and community service by attending Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he majored in Criminal Justice. It was during his time at Lamar, in 2010, that he met the love of his life, Taylor Dawn, through a mutual friend. Their bond was instant and enduring, grounded in shared values and a deep respect for one another’s dreams. They married and built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose.

After earning his degree in December 2015, John began his career in law enforcement as a correctional officer at the Harris County Jail, where he served with dignity and fairness. In 2019, he realized a long-held dream by becoming a Deputy Sheriff with the Harris County Police Department, where he was respected not only for his professionalism but also for the compassion and empathy he brought to every call, every case, and every community member he served..

Beyond the badge, John was a man of humility, humor, and deep love for his family. He was a devoted husband, a loyal son and brother, and a steadfast friend. His presence lit up a room, and his quiet strength comforted those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Taylor Dawn LaRue, his parents, Wintress and Eddie LaRue, his twin sister and best friend, and his siblings, who will carry his memory forward with pride. He also leaves behind a host of extended family, friends, and fellow officers who were honored to know and serve alongside him.

John’s life was a testament to service, strength, and love. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made will be felt for generations to come.
