John Lawson Richards

John Lawson Richards, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren at home on Friday May 2, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Johnny as he was known to many, was born on October 24, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. His family moved to Houston where he attended St. Thomas Highschool and then joined the Navy. When he returned, he married the love of his life Linda Susan Miles. They were married for 43 years before she passed in 2011. From the moment she passed a part of him died and he longed to be with her again.

Johnny owned Texas Equipment Contracting in the Heavy Machinery and Equipment industry and worked hard his whole life to provide for Linda and his 3 children. He always found time to coach his children’s sports teams and be there for them in many ways to support their other interests. Through his work he developed many long enduring friendships with his fun loving and honest personality.

He is preceded in death by his Parents Sydney (Dutch) Richards, Mary Eugenia Richards, Wife Linda Susan Richards and Sister Sydney Wooten.

He is survived by his children John (Dutch) and wife Bianca Richards, Brett Richards, Shelley and husband John Terry. Grandchildren Jake Richards, Presley Richards, Shelton Richards, Taylor Terry, and Ashley Terry. Sister Mary Jean and husband Jack Pidgeon.

The family would like to thank Divine Home Healthcare for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.

A memorial service for John will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
