Born on July 27, 1967, in Seoul, South Korea, John was adopted as a child by his loving parents, Bruce and Carlene, who brought him home to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and later attended the University of Houston, where he studied Hotel and Restaurant Management.
He built a long and dedicated career in the food and hospitality industry, managing operations at venues including The Summit, Alamodome, George R. Brown Convention Center, Toyota Center, Kyle Field, and Minute Maid Park, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, BBVA and The Marriott Hotel, leaving a lasting impact at each one.
Those who knew him recognized his deep love for the Green Bay Packers and hosting family and friends with a beautifully prepared, abundant spread of food.
In February 2018, John suffered a severe traumatic brain injury that changed the course of his life and led to ongoing health challenges. Despite this, he fought with unwavering strength and resilience, never giving up.
Above all, he was a devoted husband and a hands-on father who always showed up and never stopped working to provide for his family.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Norma; his three children, Janine, Allison, and Bradley; his grandchild, Chloe; his son-in-laws, Peter and Ivan, his seven siblings, Rachel, Julia, Ruth, Martha, Jim, Brian, and Beth; and his uncle, Jack whom he loved dearly.
He was deeply loved, and his absence will be felt every day by his family and all who knew him.
