John Sewell was my immediate supervisor when I worked for Stauffer Chemical Company  in the Peiser Research Laboratory in Houston.   Many were the samples I tested under his direction.  I also made a pendant necklace for his little daughter, Cathy.  For this I used a laboratory-created gemstone  that resembles turquoise, the formulation of  which was invented by my father, John Paul Luker.  This was quite some years back,  from about 1966 until 1971 when I moved away from Houston.

John and I have stayed in contact through the intervening years, exchanging Christmas cards.  I knew from his Christmas card the previous year that we had lost Charlotte.  I sent John a card this past Christmas; when I didn't get one from him as usual, I began to worry.  And so it is.  A very sad time for me.  I guess I'm all that's left of the old quartet.  Please convey my condolences to Jimmy and Cathy, even though they may not remember me.  That was a long time ago.
