John Wayne Sinclair

John Wayne Sinclair, 80, passed away on July 20, 2026. Born July 7, 1946, John will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he carried himself with steady thoughtfulness and a quiet generosity that made others feel seen, supported, and cared for.

John served his country with distinction as a highly decorated Gunny Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 5th Marines. Over the course of 20 years of service, including 44 months in Vietnam, he demonstrated unwavering commitment and a sense of duty grounded in compassion for those beside him. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. Following his military retirement, John continued to serve his community as a Crook County Deputy Sheriff for five plus years in Prineville, Oregon. He also pursued additional education by attending Palomar Community College after retiring from the military.

John met his wife in Havre de Grace, Maryland, and together they built a life defined by love and steadfast devotion. He was married to Linda Lee Sinclair for 57 years and 8 months. He is survived by two children, Lisa Sutter (Son In-Law Shawn Sutter) and Michele Duncan; three grandchildren, Trae Sutter, Allisha Duncan, and Bryanna Duncan; and his siblings, Vern Sinclair, Vickie White, and David Sinclair.

In his personal life, John found joy in simple pleasures and shared pastimes—going gambling and bowling, collecting stamps and coins with an avid eye, traveling in his RV, and carefully building model planes and battleships. He also possessed a deep and genuine love for animals, and his kindness knew no bounds when it came to his furry friends. That gentle, loving spirit remains a lasting part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Visitation will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, on August 4, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm.

A Committal Service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, on August 4, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
