John A. Wyatt, 66, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2015, at his home after a brief battle with cancer. John was born on October 10, 1948 in Mayfield, Kentucky, to Wayne and Dorothy Wyatt. Growing up, John’s family resided in many towns throughout Texas and Louisiana, following his father’s lifetime career with Shell Oil Company. John graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1978 with a BBA in Accounting, married the love of his life, Teresa “Dede” Schlueter, and they moved to Houston to begin their careers. John was employed at Columbia Gas Development Co. while obtaining his CPA, then became Controller of MSI Crane & Equipment Co., until he became self-employed/semi-retired in 2005 allowing him time to spend with his boys and enjoy life. He joined the Gaither Petroleum Corporation family in 2006 and later became its Chief Accounting Officer.
John was blessed with two amazing sons, Michael Wyatt of Tulsa, OK and Mark Wyatt of The Woodlands, TX. John’s hobbies were restoring old trucks, model cars, and computers. John was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Risk and video games with his sons, motorcycles, biking, running, hiking, family vacations in Colorado, Garner State Park and Rockport, his Weimaraners, playing poker, jazz music and a good cigar with a nice glass of Port. Most of all John enjoyed watching his sons play sports from little league baseball and soccer, high school baseball and football, through college and professional baseball.
