

Johnnie was born on April 20, 1936, in Myrtlewood, Alabama, to Eddie and Esther Burpo. He grew up in Linden, AL where he attended school and later married the love of his life, Jessie Burpo, in 1957. Together, they built a life full of love and cherished memories.
For more than 20 years, Johnnie worked as a foreman in construction, with notable positions at U.S. Steel and Kaufman and Broad. In addition to his professional career, Johnnie had a deep passion for automobiles, which led him to become a skilled auto mechanic. This hobby brought him immense joy and was a big part of his life.
Johnnie had an infectious personality that made him loved by many. His laughter, warmth, and the ability to engage in conversations on any topic drew people to him wherever he went. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the positive impact he had on the lives of those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Esther Burpo; his brothers, Eddie Jr., Judge, Adam, Adly and David Burpo; his sisters, Minnie Jackson, Alice Ezell, Louise Suarez, and Mary Gray; and his grandson, Gregory Bolls Jr.
Johnnie leaves behind his beloved wife, Jessie Burpo; his sister, Murline Crooms; his Children : Johnny Jr. (Donnelle, Sonya, Joshua, Jonelle, Shakayla) Ronnie (Rendell, Reginald, Regina, Reyonna) Linda (Sicily) Natascha, Theresa (Anesa, Cordae, Corahn, Averi) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
Johnnie’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
