Johnnie Mae was born May 22, 1949 in Bastrop, La. to the late Abe and Lula B. Weeks, both preceding her in death. She is also preceded by husband Joseph, son Patrick, brothers Earnest and Joey, sisters Linda and Barbara.
In the mid 70’s, she and Joseph relocated to Houston to raise a family of five kids. Here, Sis’ working career was spent entirely in the food industry, where she managed a couple of restaurants, most recently, Harlon’s BBQ in the Galleria. The passion to cook and feed others remained with her during the retirement years, especially around the holidays. We all looked forward to the cakes, sweet potato pies and that cornbread dressing. Besides cooking, another thing that excited Sis was putting up the Christmas tree Thanksgiving Day. Something she did alone, because she knew where each ornament was to be placed.
In our time of loss, we bow to God’s will and thank Him for the life she lived. He who loaned her to us now claims her again. Our living memories of her will forever remain in our hearts.
Johnnie leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Floyd (Marlowe), Jeffery, Vicki and Kristian; brothers Eugene (Ollie), Abe, Jr. (Lucille) and Michael (Cindy); sisters Lorraine and Pamela; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
