

Johnny George Whitehead went home to Heaven on Tuesday, the 11th of April 2017, at the age of 73. He was born the 26th of July 1943, and was a native Houstonian. Johnny graduated from Bellaire High School and attended Texas Tech University. Johnny was in the United States Marine Corps, and also a Mason in the S.P. Waltrip Lodge No.1328, A.F. and A.M. Johnny was self-employed in both E.H. Whitehead Concrete and Project Lighting Companies. He was a member of Coastal Conservation Association and loved fishing, hunting and his labrador retrievers. Some of Johnny's favorite past times were playing cards and dominoes, and riding around the ranch with his family and friends. Johnny had a bay house at Lane Road where years ago Johnny was claimed "mayor". His door was always open to meet and greet everyone that came. He enjoyed his family reunions at Lake Buchanan, and was an avid NFL fan.
Preceding him in death were his parents Emmett Harrison Whitehead and Wilma Nell Knight (Billie), and his brother Eugene Raymond Whitehead. Johnny is survived by his wife, Mary Colleen Kelly Whitehead; daughter, Cheryl Ann Nevitt; grandson, Michael Andrew Nevitt; son, Sean Harrison Whitehead; sister, Barbara Ann Moore; aunt, Helen Orgeron; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Johnny's final request was a celebration of life party to be held from two until five o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 13th of May, at the Briar Club, 2603 Timmons Lane in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Coastal Conservation Association, 6919 Portwest, Ste. 100, Houston, TX 77024; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to the charity of one’s choice.
