Jonathan D. Gomez passed away on November 30, 2021, in Houston, TX, surrounded by his wife, parents, siblings, and other family and friends. Jon fought a valiant but brief battle against a serious liver disease that took him much too soon. Jon was born in Houston on September 5, 1980, to Ofelia (Ramirez) and Manuel Gomez. He was passionate about computers and earned degrees in network security and computer information systems. After years of work in retail and market research, Jon joined the Children's Learning Institute at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2019; he loved his work.
Jon first met his wife Angela in 2003. The couple bonded over their shared love of music, books, food, and travel. After many years of friendship, the two began dating in 2009 and married on December 17, 2011. Their wedding day, Jon would say, was the happiest day of his life, to which he added the days his two children (Adeline and Elliott) were born. Jon is survived by his wife Angela (Polczynski) and his two children, Adeline and Elliott Gomez; parents, Manuel and Ofelia Gomez; sister, Laura Alvarez and husband, David; brother, Paul and wife, Janna Gomez; nieces, Isabella Alvarez, Luna Gomez, and Layla Gomez; and nephews, David Alvarez, Jr., and Mason Gomez. He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; his brother, Daniel Gomez; aunt, Ana Stannard; and three uncles, Daniel Ramirez, Robert Stannard, and Thomas Caylor. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services (7010 Chetwood, Houston, TX 77081), with services commencing at 6:00 pm.
