As a former classmate of Joohee's in U.T. Southwestern Medical School's Class of 2005, I was shocked to read only recently of her passing last year.  I never met Joohee, in part from our large class and busy schedules, but I remember her departure for Baylor for a surgery residency.  I am extremely sorry only to know her from others' words here.  Please know, Moonat family, that you will be in my prayers.  I cannot imagine what the past year has been like for you, and please let me know if I can help in any way.  Psalm 23.

Dear Dr. Suresh & Dr. Sunita  I am so very sorry and very sadden to hear the passing of Joohee, it brought tears to my eyes, I can remember clearly as to when she and saurabh would walk in the office in the morning times with  big smile on their faces. She turned out to be a beautiful young lady and will be missed by many.. May God give your family the strength to make it through... I have always thought of you all and have always tht the world of y'all. Prayers go out to you and your family ..

I think of Dr. Moonat often here as I complete my day at St.Luke's Operating Room.  She is greatly missed.  When she comes to mind I always smile, remembering that beautiful smile of hers.  I can still hear echos of that contagious laugh down the hallways. We all loved her here. Blessing to your family on her birthday and throughout the year.

Although I only had the opportunity to talk to Joohee a couple of times, I have known her family for a long time and they are truly wonderful people. I always viewed Joohee as a role model, and throughout high school I would hear many stories about her accomplishments from teachers. She was an inspiring, talented, beautiful, and exceptionally bright person and I am so very sorry for her loss.

I have known the entire Moonat family for more than 20 years and have been a patient for at least that same amount of time. Joohee was truly a very special young lady. Her smile was a reflection of her glowing personality. And she could comfort you with the confidence of her soothing and reassuring voice. It is with deep regret that I heard of the death of Dr. Moonat.   She was an excellent surgeon and a fine human being.  Dr. Moonat discovered my husband's appendiceal cancer and we  were devastated to see her at MD during a visit.  We were indeed privileged to have known such an extraordinary person and we are seldom likely to meet anyone with more professionalism and enthusiasm than she. My husband and I offer our heartfelt condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved daughter and sister. She was one of my closest friends through high school and I will always remember her determination. I am so proud of her for all she accomplished. My memories of her are strong and will always remember our good times. I am so glad I was able to see you all and say good bye.

I am deeply sorry to hear the loss of such a gifted surgeon. I pray her parents and brothers can find closure and know that Joohee has been fully compensated for all her pain and suffering by a loving God. Her journey here was full of happiness and great accomplishments and she had more happiness than sadness and more healthy days than sick days. Her soul now watches over us and reaffirms that love is the greatest force in the universe. I had the brief opportunity to work with Dr. Moonat at Memorial Hermann the Woodlands.   It was very easy to see she had a special talent.  She was able to perform new and cutting edge techniques for her patients without hesitation, when others may have feared. I know that what I began to know abut her was true times 1000. I only wish I had more time with her, but her legacy has moved me and Joohee will be sincerely missed.

Joohee was my surgeon and an amazing one she was I remember on my second surgery a young male doctor said he would be performing it since she was out of town I threw a fit said I'd leave the hospital her brother told me she would be back Monday no one was gonna touch me but her.... I haven't seen Joohee for about 17 years, since back in high school.  But her face and smile are bringing back great memories.  I remember her having a really positive disposition and always smiling.  She would even laugh at my stupid jokes, which shows the generous nature of her warm personality.

It is truly tragic to hear of such a bright, warm soul passing too soon.  But she will always be remembered by all whose lives she touched.
