Jose Martin Cortez Jr.

Jose is preceded in death by his father, Jose Martin Cortez; his maternal grandfather, Ponciano Cortez; his paternal grandfather, Lorenzo Cortez; and paternal grandmother, Maria Teresa Cortez.

Jose is survived by his loving life partner, Shane Tyler; their “Dogter” Marley; his mother, Sandra Cortez; his sister (and her husband), Sandra & Felipe Aguirre; his brothers, Robert Cortez, Andrew Cortez, and Christopher Cortez; his beloved nephews Damien Dre Aguirre, Andrew Xzavier Cortez, and Daxton Lorenzo Aguirre; and his beloved nieces NyeAnna Rose Cortez, and Zoey Izabella Consuelo Cortez.

Jose was born on July 11, 1981 to Jose Martin Cortez, and Sandra Cortez. On March 17, 2012, Jose met the love of his life; Shane, in Brownwood, Texas. On April 10, 2013 Jose and Shane moved to Houston to start their life together, and on July 23, 2014, they would adopt their ”Dogter” Marley, where she would automatically become a huge part of their lives.

Jose loved making beautiful memories with the people he loved. Whether it was going on vacations with his partner Shane, going to concerts with friends and family, or just being an amazing son, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend when needed. A man of many roles is a man to count on and it is without a doubt; that Jose will forever be missed and will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on July 11, at 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX, with a rosary in his honor at 6:00pm.
