Jose de Jesus Martinez Muniz, lovingly known as Jessie, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Jose was born in Miguel Alemán, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Jesus Martinez and Guadalupe Muniz. He immigrated to the United States in his early 20s and made Houston, Texas, his home, where he lived for more than 50 years.
Jose was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent many years working as a pipefitter in the Baytown refineries. After retiring approximately 10 years ago, he enjoyed the simple things in life, especially fishing and spending time with his family.
Jose was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and participated in the church’s prayer group for approximately 25 years. His faith and love for his family were an important part of his life.
Jose was married to Fortunata Martinez for 34 years. His beloved wife passed away on July 11, 2026. Together, they shared many years of love, family, and memories.
He is survived by his children, Jessie Martinez, Tony Martinez, and Ramon Martinez, and is preceded in death by his daughter Rebecca Martinez. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Jose Rodriguez, Paula Rodriguez, Amira Salazar, Anilu Garza and Aida Rodriguez, and was blessed with 14 grandchildren.
Jose was preceded in death by his siblings Antonio Martinez, Andres Martinez, Servando Martinez, Jose Oliveros Martinez, Ludivina Sandoval, and Anastacia Jaimes. He is survived by his sister Victoria Cordero.
Jose will be remembered for his hard work, strong faith, love of family, and the time he enjoyed fishing and creating memories with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created with his family will remain in their hearts forever.
May he rest in eternal peace.

A Funeral Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087, US, on October 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Committal Service at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, US, on October 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
