José M. De León

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of José (Pepe) M. De León on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 96 years. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children as he peacefully went to be with the Lord. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that “Papi”; “Guelito” is now at peace in the presence of our Heavenly Father, reunited with loved ones who went before him.

Pepe De León was born in Rancho Nuevo, Tamaulipas, on January 4, 1929. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elida, of 62 years; his children: Javier, Efrain (Gloria); Carlos (Mandy); Hugo; Mirtha (Romeo); Sammy (Angélica); and Melisandra; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Noe De León and Elias De León, as well as many nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Dad was a man of integrity, warmth, and compassion. Throughout his life, he was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, his commitment to those around him, and his kind, gentle spirit. His quiet strength and genuine kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Pepe’s life was marked by his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and the meaningful connections he fostered with his children. He valued loyalty, respect, and sincerity, and those values guided him in every aspect of his life.

He will be remembered fondly for his wisdom and the steady presence he offered to his loved ones. Though his absence leaves a profound void, his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation for José will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
