Jose Hernandez Medina

Joe Medina, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on August 18, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1953, in St. John’s, Michigan, to Antonio and Aurora Medina. Joe spent much of his childhood in New Braunfels, Texas, before making Houston his home.

Joe was a dedicated painter, working for many years with the Bradford Company and later for Gerald. He took pride in his work and continued painting into his retirement. In his free time, Joe enjoyed watching sports, especially cheering for the Houston Astros and Texans. He was a passionate Astros fan and treasured the time he spent with his children and great-grandchildren.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Aurora Medina; his brothers, Tony Medina and Albert Medina; and his beloved wife, Virginia Medina.

He leaves behind seven children: Michelle, Maxine, Joseph and his wife Maria, Angela and her husband George, Joe and his wife Betty, Joel, and Gina and her husband Matthew. Joe was a proud grandfather to 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters, Felicitas Rodriguez, Gloria Sanchez, and Lisa Medina.

Joe's family and friends will forever remember his warm heart, his love for sports, and the joy he found in spending time with his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation for Jose will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003, followed by a chapel service at 7:00 pm.
