He was born in Houston, Texas to the late Joe and Mamie Colonnetta on the 8th of February, 1937. Joseph attended Saint Thomas High School and The University of Houston. Joe had a successful career in the Liquor industry, and after 55 years, he retired to spend his time with family and friends.
Joe was one of two oldest active members of The Sacred Heart Society, joining the organization at the age of 18 and giving almost 70 years of service. To know Joe was to love him. There wasn’t a challenge he couldn’t conquer or an obstacle he didn’t overcome. You always knew when Joe entered the room. He had a smile and personality that was contagious. He was a loyal man, loved his wife, family and he cherished the Italian traditions. If Joe wasn’t spending time with his family, you would find him on a boat fishing or in a Deer stand hunting. He was outgoing and full of life. He was so full of life that he developed the nickname, Bumblebee. His friends stated that Joe never sat down. He buzzed around everywhere like a busy bee.
Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marylyn J. Colonnetta; his children, Annette Colonnetta Devers and her husband Kevin Devers, Vince J. Colonnetta and his wife Julia Colonnetta and Marisa Colonnetta O’Neal and her husband Sid O’ Neal; grandchildren, Christopher Keys, Vincent J. Colonnetta Jr, Joseph Charles Colonnetta II, and his wife Niki, Cameron Devers and his wife Courtney, Skylar Devers Wright and her husband Tim, Austin O’Neal and Sydney O’Neal; Great Grandchildren, Leah Belle Colonnetta and Callahan Devers; brother, Tommy Colonnetta and his wife Giovanna; and his two Godsons, Tommy Colonnetta Jr. and Jason Husbands.
The family would like to give special thanks to the amazing team that cared for him; Joann Stevens and Charlotte & Joseph Kibirango.
Joe is gone but never forgotten, leaving his loving memories in our hearts forever.
