

Joseph Bascom (JB) Floyd, 92, of Spring, Texas, went to be with his Lord December 5, 2017. Born in Kerens, Texas, on September 6, 1925 to John Bascom and Annie Fay Stevens Floyd. He graduated from Kerens High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. JB was in the 87th Infantry Division, “Golden Acorn,” and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. After becoming a follower of Jesus at FBC Kerens, he served as deacon for over 64 years. JB was dearly loved by everyone. His godly life and selfless generosity impacted friends and family alike. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Frances Floyd. JB is survived by his wife, Joyce Whitaker Floyd; sons John and Doug Floyd; daughter-in-law Debbie Kneisel Floyd; stepdaughter Kathy Gaddy; grandchildren—Cara Rucker, Leah Callahan, Laura Floyd, Matthew Floyd, and Lesley Branscum; great-grandchildren—Richie, Brett and Josie Callahan, Brandon Rucker, Austin Barnes, Kamiayh, Hannah, Eli and Micah Branscum, Leighton Floyd; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas. The funeral service is Friday, December 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, 22333 Kuykendahl, Spring, Texas, and burial at Brookside Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m.
