Joseph Roland Waters Sr. was born on October 31, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to Roland Allen Hall and Saundra Harris. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Ebenezer AME Church. He received his formal education in the Kansas City Public Schools. He had a lifelong love of spending time with his family, listening to music, watching football, bowling and playing chess. He could often be found doing a combination of these at the same time.

He worked hard throughout his life to care for his family and retired from the State of Missouri -Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Center in 2014. Where he counseled many patients through addictions and mental illness. He celebrated 30 years sober in June 2020; and we are very proud of that accomplishment.

He departed this life surrounded by his children on on February 20, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, his Uncle Fred Harris, and his Uncle JD Harris. He leaves five children to cherish his memory: Adrienne Williams, Camille Sowells, Ashley Waters, Joseph Waters II, and Carolyn Humphrey; ten grandchildren: Tiffany, Domonic, Cory, Joshua, Jada, Julius, Julian, Jennalise, Alayna, Raven, Adam and Amber; seven great-grandchildren, his aunt Inita Josie Lair and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.

God is good all the time, and all the time God is good! Joseph Roland Waters Sr. "Is" my "Best Friend", my "Brother", and much much more! I have seen his family from the very beginning, and how he loved all those beautiful children. But let us not forget that the joys and successes of life only highlight how we handle our pain, struggles, and choices we make. Joe and all his family with love, fought through all those challenges, with God, and through God, so we all have found memories past and present. To the family (my family) now more than ever is the time to continue or begin to share the "Love" of family, so let us thank God for the time that He has allowed us to spend with "Joseph Roland Waters Sr".

Joe and I worked together at State hospital and NMPRC. He was a fantastic guy to work with! I also considered him a great friend! When he moved to Texas we kept in touch. For some reason I felt like I needed to call him in the last few weeks because of the weather. I cried when I heard he had passed. I wish I 😪 would 😪 have called. I remember a fond memory after a very hard day at work. I was talking
To my daughter and mentioned Joe's name
She jokingly informed me that I didn't know Joe Waters. As it turned out she knew Joe,Jr. Please know that many friends co-workers morn his passing. I can only send love and hugs to you all. May he R.I.P.
