Joy Chukwuneke Harris, 68, of Houston, Texas, passed away on October 11, 2026.
Joy was born on November 15, 1963, to Lawrence Chukwuneke and Josephine (Mba) Chukwuneke in Lagos, Nigeria. With steady determination and a deep sense of purpose, she pursued her education at Houston Community College before attending nursing school, ultimately earning her nursing degree in the United States.
For many years, Joy served others through her work as a nurse. Her life’s work reflected a resilient spirit and a compassionate heart—meeting people in moments of need with courage, patience, and genuine care.
A devoted Christian, Joy was a member of the Celestial Church of Christ. Her faith was a guiding presence throughout her life, expressed in quiet strength, kindness, and steadfast devotion.
Joy is survived by her daughters, 16-year-old Ngozi and 15-year-old Ogechi; her brothers, Josiah and Henry Chukwuneke; her sisters-in-law, Gloria Chukwuneke and Ifeoma Sandra Chukwuneke; and many nieces and nephews.
Committal will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077, on November 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
Visitation will be held at Garden Oaks Funeral Home, 13430 BELLAIRE BLVD, HOUSTON, TX 77083, on November 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
