Joyce Helen Esman (née Whitten) was born July 26, 1940 in Houston, TX. On March 23, 2025, surrounded by family, she went home to be with the Lord. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Joyce dedicated her life to caring for others, embodying kindness and love in everything she did. A woman of deep faith, she served in the church nursery at Bauman Road Baptist Church for more than 20 years, nurturing countless children with warmth and compassion. She never missed an event, birthday, or celebration, always putting family first. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her nine grandchildren and a great-grandmother to her five great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Joyce was a beacon of love, kindness, and faith, touching the lives of everyone she met. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will never be forgotten. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Joyce is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Ronnie Esman; her parents, Bonie and Venus Whitten; her brothers, Roy Whitten, Howard Whitten, Bill Whitten, Ray Whitten, Richard Whitten, and Harry Whitten; and her sister, Janis Wunderlich.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Esman (Margaret), Ron Esman, and David Esman (Allison); her 9 grandchildren; her 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and services will both be held at Brookside Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, 2025 - with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM and services at 2:00 PM with graveside to follow.
