Juana Mae Huddleston

Juana Mae Huddleston, 97, was born Juana Mae Bryson on September 11, 1923 to Gilbert A Bryson and Maude Parker Bryson in Cordell, Oklahoma. Juana passed away on March 15, 2021 from injuries suffered in a fall at her home in Houston, Texas.

Juana graduated from Cordell High School in Cordell, Oklahoma After graduation she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she attended radio/electronics school and worked at Kelly air force base. It was in radio school that she met William B Huddleston and they would later marry and move to Houston, Texas where they raised their family. They had 2 sons, Don and Ben. While the boys were still in elementary school, she did volunteer work with the PTA and also worked as a volunteer school librarian As the boys got older Juana decided on a new career as a beautician. She attended beauty school and got her cosmetology license. She worked as a beautician at the Golden Age Retirement home and for a while also had her own shop in partnership with a friend. Juana was also a talented seamstress and made a lot of her own clothes as well as clothes for others. She also loved to crochet and made many beautiful sweaters as well as afghan blankets. She also enjoyed doing other crafts as well as gardening. Juana was also a licensed amateur radio operator with call sign K5KQF and participated in many amateur radio club activities.

Juana is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, William Byrum Huddleston and her youngest son Bennie Bruce Huddleston. Juana is survived by a younger brother Bob O Bryson and his wife Kathy and her oldest son Donald Byrum Huddleston and his wife Vida Huddleston and her youngest son’s wife Gloria Huddleston. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brian Huddleston and wife Diane, Jeffery Huddleston and wife Heather, Valerie Vasentine and husband Danny, Brandon Huddleston and Esther Guidry and husband Chance, as well as great grandchildren Brenna Huddleston, Claire Huddleston, Allison Huddleston, Blake Huddleston, Isabella Vasentine, Dominic Vasentine, Madyson Grudziecki and Cash Guidry.
