Juana R. Lugo, age 89, of Houston, Texas passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025. She was born on June 26, 1935, in Karnes City, Texas to parents, Jose Natividad Rodriguez and Manuela (Aguilar) Rodriguez.
Juana was only able to attend elementary school as she had to help her parents with their farmwork, picking cotton and various varieties of fruits and vegetables. She met Francisco Lugo, in Glen Flora, Texas and the two were married on August 31, 1954. She became a homemaker and together, they raised 12 wonderful children.
Juana had a deep love for her family and a special fondness for gardening. She also enjoyed the thrill of playing bingo and found great joy in cooking for those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Francisco Lugo; her parents, Jose Natividad Rodriguez and Manuela (Aguilar) Rodriguez, and multiple siblings.
Juana's memory will be lovingly cherished by her sons, Frank (Sherry) Lugo, Joe (Norma) Lugo, Oscar Lugo (Joan), Fiedel (Carmalita) Lugo, Javel (Irma) Lugo; her daughters, Olinda Lugo, Rosalie (late husband Steven) Bryant, Carolina (Harold) Hands, Elva Rosales; Theresa Lugo Montes, Dalea Lugo and Michelle (Tory) Lugo Hollings; 30 grandchildren, 40.5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Oscar Lugo, Fiedel Lugo, Javel Lugo, Wesley Lugo, Jacob Hands, Fernando Rosales, Brandon Lugo, Steven Lugo Montes, Felix Lugo, Jonathan Lugo, Leonel Lugo, Daniel Lugo, Andrew Rosales, Nicholas Rosales and Steven Bryant.
An evening visitation for Juana will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary service beginning promptly at 7:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:30 PM, in Brookside's Grand Oak Chapel; burial will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
