Juanita "Janie" (Gutierrez) Rodriguez

Juanita "Janie" (Gutierrez) Rodriguez, age 80, of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was born in Houston, Texas on April, 26, 1942 to parents Cecilio Gutierrez and Delfina (Fuentes) Gutierrez.

A native Houstonian, Janie attended and graduated Jefferson Davis High School. On December 8, 1965, Janie married Roy L. Rodriguez in Houston, Texas and together they raised three children.

Janie worked as a bus driver for Aldine ISD for over 20 years until retiring. With a nurturing spirit, Janie has always had a passionate love for family and friends. She enjoyed visiting and cooking for family as well as listening to all genres of music. She was a virtuous woman of God and a devout Christian.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents Delfina Gutierrez and Cecilio Gutierrez; and son Randy Rene Rodriguez.

She is survived by her sons, Carl (Mike) Rodriguez, and Roy (Brian) Rodriguez and spouse Amanda Rodriguez; grandchildren, Kristin Rodriguez, Kimberly Rodriguez, Derek Rodriguez, Declan Rodriguez, and Tara Rodriguez; sisters, Mary Blanco, Delfina (Tootsie) Rangel; and brother, Cecilo Gutierrez.

Serving as pallbearers are Carl (Mike) Rodriguez, Roy (Brian) Rodriguez, Derek Rodriguez, Declan Rodriguez, Kenneth Bench, Johnny Tyndal, and Steve Gardner.

A visitation for Janie will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A rosary will occur Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 8:30 AM at 4918 Cochran St, Houston, TX 77009. A committal service will occur Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.

There will be a reception back at the St. Patrick's Church immediately after the funeral. Food and drinks will be served.
