

Juanita Ford Smith, 92, entered eternal rest on November 20, 2021 in Kingwood, Texas. She was born on April 2, 1929 in Navarro County, Texas to Leon Ovis & Mattie Ophelia Ford. Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Smith; brother, Billy Thomas Ford; granddaughter, Ginger Lee Stinson and son-in-law Dale Giesel. Left to cherish her loving memory, daughters, Phyles Schobel (Mel), Beverlee Giesel; son, Michael R. Smith; sister, Peggy Hunt (Roy); sisters- in- law, Roberta Dougan and Lois Chisholm (Buddy); grandchildren, Shayne Stinson (Stacey), Jessica Sutton (Rodney), Megan Smith, Michael A. Smith (Nadia); great grandchildren, Landry Stinson, William Goble, Garrett Smith; step grandchildren & families, Scott Schobel (Audrey)-Sami Alarcon (Victor) & Ryan Schobel (Rylee), Mark Schobel, Kristi Wright (Kyle)-Kristen Hines & Nikki Hines. Also 3 step great grandchildren – Jude & Lorelei Schobel and Logan Tousley. And several much loved nieces and nephews.
As a young wife and mother she was a cosmetologist in Overton, Tx while her husband Bill was in Korea. Upon his return, they moved to Houston and she became a homemaker and mother, investing in the lives of her children and family. She was a lifelong Christian and member of the Church of Christ growing up with her dad preaching and teaching in small towns in East Texas. Her husband, Bill, was a preacher for several years for several small churches in the Houston area. Their longest time was with the Porter Church of Christ. She then moved to Henderson, Tx to be with family there until her return to the Houston in area in 2012. She lived in the Kingwood area until her death. Currently her church family was the Kingwood Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Sunny Glen Children’s Home or Jeremiah’s Hope (Ukraine). Nita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
