November 9, 1941April 19, 2020

Judy Dunn Gutierrez was born November 9, 1941. After a long battle with Leukemia, she was ushered into the presence of the Lord on April 19,2020. Judy had a strong, warrior spirit and after a 2-and-a-half-year battle, she chose to end treatments and come home under the care of Houston Hospice to spend her last days with her family. She loved and was thankful to those who helped and cared for her during her illness, especially her best friend, Ruth Markham who was with her almost constantly. Also, Jan Kaiser, Jessie Dunn, Mary Jobes, and Cynthia Porter were by her side, caring for her for many months. During her younger days, Judy and her husband Ben, traveled many places including Alaska, England, Ireland, Amsterdam, Canada, the Caribbean, and Germany. Judy loved gardening and received many “yard of the month” awards. She loved antiques and collectable dolls. Most summers she would rent a beach home at Tiki Island where she and her family and dear friend Ruth would have fun fishing, crabbing, and just relaxing. Judy could tell you the best places to eat in Galveston. Judy was a native Houstonian and a member of First Baptist Church and loved John Bisagno, her pastor for many years. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Christine and Harry Dunn, and her mother-in-law, Beatrice Gutierrez. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Benny Alfonso Gutierrez. She is also survived by her best friend Ruth Markham, her son, Victor Kaiser and wife Jan; grandsons Dalton and Benjamin Kaiser, and granddaughter Stephanie Kaiser; daughter, Erin Stamper and husband Greg, granddaughter Katie Sorem and husband Clay, grandsons Andrew Smith and Tony Smith and great granddaughter Jade Smith; son Bart Gutierrez and wife Cyndi and grandsons Cole Gutierrez and Mat Gutierrez and wife Ashlee and great grand children Mateson, Braylee, Maxim, and Berklee, granddaughter Jessica Mitchell and husband James, and great grandson Jacob; precious daughter in law, Christy and husband Mark Creacy; brother Robert Dunn and wife Jessie, niece Julie Dunn and nephew Robert Dunn, Jr. and wife Rhonda; cousin Larry Moon and wife Lourdes. Due to the current Novel Coronavirus pandemic, a graveside memorial service is planned at a later date to be determined. Gifts in memory of Judy may be made to Star of Hope Mission or the charity of choice.

I am honored to have been your daughter in love. You were more than a mother in law you were my mom as well. I love you and miss you daily. I am so thankful to have been with you every second from the time you got in the ambulance to come home until the second you took your last breath. I promised not to leave you for a second and I didn’t. You are finally free from suffering and I rejoice that you are free and walking in Heaven with Jesus and family. We will go feed the seagulls soon in your honor. Love you always.

Judy loved God and other people. She enjoyed life, flowers, birds, nature, sports and cooking.

She was a beautiful lady inside and out. She had a contagious laugh and a pretty smile.

We were blessed to have Judy in our lives. See you in heaven. Love you.

Because I live, you shall live also. John 14:19

I have known and loved Judy my entire life. It is sad to think of this world without her in it but I rejoice that she is with our Savior and savor the day that I will see her again. She was the dearest of friends to my family, especially to my mother. I will always remember and love Judy for her loving kindness.
