

Judy was born to parents Joseph John Lum Sr. and Mei Lan Chiu on December 11, 1939 in Lake Village, Arkansas. She graduated high school from St. Agnes Academy in Houston, TX, and went on to attend the University of Texas to study mathematics. On June 1, 1969, Judy married Walter Yem Joe and they went on to celebrate 42 years together. She is survived by her sister Wanda Lum, brothers Bill Lum (wife Mary) and Tom Lum, and sister-in-law Sheila Lum. Judy is also survived by her children Conrad Joe (wife Tara), Kristine Puri (husband Colin), Karin Wong (husband Alden), Derick Joe (wife Naomi), and granddaughter Lillian Joe. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph John Lum Sr. and Mei Lan Chiu, her husband Walter Yem Joe, and her brother Joseph “Joe” Lum Jr.
Judy was a loving wife, caring mother, and proud grandmother who devoted her days to serving and helping others. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime active member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Community. She always attended Sunday mass even when traveling outside of Houston or the U.S. She spent many hours volunteering with various organizations dear to her heart. She was a lifelong member of the Parent Teacher Association at both the local and national levels, a life-long volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, and most recently served as Vice President of the Bayshore Unit of Parliamentarians. Over the course of her life, she continued to mentor many children at the local elementary school.

A private interment will be held at a later date for immediate family at the Houston National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with dear husband Walter.
