

Judith Clark Johnson was born on March 9, 1945, in Houston, Texas. She passed peacefully on January 10, 2026, and was welcomed Home into God’s precious Kingdom. Her heart was filled with love, warmth and compassion.
Judith was the seventh eldest child of ten (10) children, born to proud parents Johnnie Clark, Sr. and Mattie B. Clark. She is preceded in death by both parents. Six of her dear siblings also predeceased her: Edwina, Johnnie Jr., Richard, Fennon, Frances and Betty.
At an early age, Judith accepted Christ and joined her family in becoming members of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, where her foundation of Christian beliefs and principles was strengthened.
Judith is a 1963 graduate of the historic Booker T. Washington High School in Houston, Texas. In 1968, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Texas Southern University, where she graduated with a Cum Laude Honors Distinction. While enrolled at the university, she was also elected Queen of the School of Pharmacy and earned a place on the Homecoming Court during the 1967 school term. In accordance with Judith’s commitment to academic excellence and her desire to help others through service to mankind, she was inducted into the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She has been a supportive member of the sorority for 62 years. Her past Chapter affiliations include Gamma Psi and Beta Phi Omega.
In 1968, Judith began her early Pharmacy career as a Staff Pharmacist, employed at several notable healthcare institutions over the years. Such facilities included St. Anthony’s Center and Doctor’s Hospital, where she was promoted to the position of Director of Pharmacy. She then continued her practice of Pharmacy at Randall’s Food & Drugs, Inc. as a Pharmacy Manager until her retirement. While at Randall’s, she received awards and recognition for her various achievements.
To many, Judith was affectionately known as “Judy”. She was known for her selfless spirit, kind and giving nature and warm smile. She loved her family dearly and she cherished the fond memories of time spent together.
Judith had several recreational interests over the years that brought her joy, including cooking, traveling, viewing movies, sporting events, and attending stage plays, along with, other forms of live family entertainment. She loved listening to Gospel Music and R&B. Judith also adored shopping.
In 1968, Judith married Albert Johnson, Jr. This union led to the celebrated birth of their children, Darlene and Gerald. Although the marriage ended, the couple remained life-long friends and continued to co-parent over the years. Judith poured into her children. She instilled within them positive character and citizenship traits and a quest for knowledge. They were taught that to serve God meant to help others whenever possible. Each of her children took pride in doing so.
Judith is survived by her ex-spouse and devoted friend Albert Johnson, Jr.; her loving daughter, Darlene Johnson Mays, J.D.; her loving son, Gerald Johnson, M.D. (Erin); Grandchildren: Melanie Mays, Ian Johnson and Zoe Johnson; Brothers: Eugene Clark, Benny Clark, and Thomas Clark, D.D.S. She is further survived by a warm host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
