Judy was born on July 31, 1942, in Hays, Kansas, to the late Virgel and Pauline Weaver. She spent her childhood in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma before her family settled in Liberal, Kansas, where she met the love of her life, Jerry Ruttman. They married in 1962 and shared 54 wonderful years together before Jerry's passing on October 28, 2016.
As the wife of an oilfield hotshot, Judy often climbed into the truck and went wherever the road led with Jerry. She never passed up a good road trip and found happiness in the simple things…playing golf, hunting for antiques, working in her yard, and spending time outdoors. She always had a beloved dog by her side, and animals seemed to know they had found a friend in her.
Judy had a smile that put people at ease and seemed to have a song for just about every occasion. Whether she was singing a tune that matched the moment or laughing with family, she had a way of making everyday life a little brighter.
Above all, Judy loved her family. She is survived by her children, Darla Dickerson, Cameron Ruttman (Suzzane), Melissa Heathman (Shane Hicks), Jeri Matthys (Adam); eight cherished grandchildren; and her brother, Larry Weaver.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Ruttman; her parents, Virgel and Pauline Weaver; her brother, Paul Weaver; and her sister, Sue Carlile.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
Judy will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of family, the songs she always seemed to have ready, and the smile that so often brightened the day of those around her.
After nearly ten years apart, Judy is now reunited with her beloved Jerry.
