Julia was born in Houston, Texas to parents Nasser and Zarifeh Foty in 1950, who immigrated from Palestine. She grew up in the heart of Houston and graduated from San Jacinto High School. She went on to be the first person in her family to graduate from college, receiving a degree in psychology from the University of Houston. Julia spent a decades-long career as a customs broker importing and exporting goods all over the world.
She was a dedicated member of St George Orthodox Church and volunteered at the Mediterranean Festival and Food Pantry for years. She regularly attended church retreats and found great comfort in her faith.
Julia was a Xi Beta Kappa of Beta Sigma Phi and shared lots of fun memories with her sorority sisters.
Julia was most proud of her family and spent as much time with them as she possibly could. She was an adoring Tete, or grandmother, who loved her grandchildren with her whole heart. She was their No. 1 babysitter and trucked alongside them to dance recitals, soccer and volleyball games, and school events.
Julia leaves behind her devoted daughter, Michelle Kuban and trusted son-in-law Josh; and grandchildren Juliet and William. Julia is survived by her loving brother, Jack Foty and his wife, Linda. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including James Foty and wife Maggie, Joey Foty, Nick Foty and wife Rosanne and their children Madeline, Sophie and Libby; Lena Totah and husband Marwan and their children Elana, Maia, and Leah; great niece Ashley Foty; and great nephew John Foty, his wife Natale and their son, Gabriel Foty.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Foty (wife Nabila Foty); sister, Juliet Foty Tewal; and nieces Suzanne Foty and Jennifer Foty (Maha Foty) and nephew Eric Foty (Vicky Foty).
Julia was the best of the best. A good soul who always went out of her way to help others. She leaves a legacy of strength, kindness and love.
