Julian Randolph Buck Jr.

his beloved wife of 50 years, Marianne, sister Karen, uncle Phillip, daughters Heather and Rachel, son Julian Buck III “Jay”, sons-in-law Garrett and David, grandchildren Astoria, Noah, Lincoln, and Hannah, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Julian was born in Montclair, New Jersey, to Julian Randolph Buck Sr. and Evelyn Renfroe Buck. He grew up alongside his sister, Karen, and brother, Rob, in Omaha, Nebraska, and Dallas, Texas.

From 1968 to 1970, Julian proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, including a 13-month tour in Vietnam with Battery C, 2d Battalion, 17th Artillery. During his service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor for heroism for "performing his duties with exceptional professionalism while under hostile fire." On his 23rd birthday, while his unit was under constant bombardment, Julian repeatedly volunteered to leave the relative safety of the fire direction center to repair damaged communication lines and carry firing data to the howitzers. His extraordinary courage and selfless dedication earned him this distinguished recognition from the Secretary of the Army.

Julian met and married the love of his life, Marianne, in Guerneville, Northern California. Together they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children in Texas and creating countless memories while traveling throughout the United States.

Julian was known for his brilliant mind, remarkable memory, and wonderful sense of humor. He loved exploring different artistic mediums, especially painting, and found great joy in sharing his knowledge of art and his many other hobbies with others.

As a young man, Julian gave his life to Jesus Christ and remained a faithful follower throughout his adult life, raising his family to know and love the Lord. In his final days, he rested in the peace and assurance of his eternal home in Heaven.

Julian leaves behind a legacy of courage, faith, creativity, and deep love for his family. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Committal Service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, on July 27, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the Creativity Room at the Del Webb Sweetgrass Lake House, 707 Del Webb Blvd., Richmond, TX 77469
