Karen leaves behind her sister of 58 years, Anita K. Smith, her uncle, Ron L. Smith, and her cousin, Cathy Neu.
Karen was known for her love of swimming, bowling, parties, and dance. Her favorite color was red, and she had a fondness for singing the "Happy Birthday" song. Karen participated in the Special Olympics at Texas A&M, where she excelled in the shot put sport, winning many awards and trophies.
She will be missed by the All-Texana Center, Chelsea Gardens, and the nurses of Houston Methodist Hospital of Sugar Land.
A public visitation will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, located at 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, on September 17, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same venue on September 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm, followed by the committal service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
Karen Lorraine Kniss will be remembered for her brave spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.
