Katherine Cooks

March 19, 1930May 14, 2020

Katherine Cooks was born March 19, 1930 in Calvert, Texas to Mr. Garfield and Rebecca D. Hawkins. She accepted Christ at an early age and after moving to Houston, Texas. She became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend M.O. Bell and later under the leadership of Bishop Larry Leonard. She loved to cook, sew and she did domestic services for Mr. and Mrs. Carolyn Woods Jackson and family for many years.

On March 6, 1949, she joined in Holy Matrimony to Benjamin W. Cooks Sr. Sixty-five years of marriage and to this union ten children were born.

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin W. Cooks Sr., daughters Glory Lee, Dorthula Cooks; sons Howard Glen Cooks, and Baby Cooks. Also her parents Mr. Garfield and Rebecca D. Hawkins; sister Martha Jones; brothers David, Garfield, Ike, Floyd, and Wade Hawkins

She leaves to cherish her memories, Benjamin W. Cooks Jr. (Virginia), Sammie Cooks, Sharon A. Brown (Harold), Dwight Cooks, Shelia E. Daniels (Stacy), Melvin Cooks and one brother Jack Hawkins; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great- grandchildren and sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Katherine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
