Cora Katherine “Mema” Prewitt, 80, entered eternal rest on April 10, 2021 in Manvel, Texas. She was born August 14, 1940 in Leggett, Texas to Berton & Ruth Brown. Kathy attended Leggett High School where she was senior class Vice President and served on the Student Council. She graduated in 1958 and soon started working as a telephone operator. Over the next few decades, she enjoyed being a mom to her three children, “Buddy”, Cindy and Timmy. The four of them eventually made their way to Houston, Texas where Kathy met the love of her life, Carl Prewitt, who had eight children of his own. The two were married on June 4, 1983 and they happily became a family of 13! Kathy always made sure Carl, and all of their children, were well loved and taken care of. When their first grandson was born, they instantly became “Mema” and “Papa” to everyone in the family. Mema loved being a grandmother and spreading her love to each and every one of her grandkids and great grandkids. Mema enjoyed gardening, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends. She will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Bert & Ruth Brown; husband: Carl Prewitt; sisters: Della Mae Moran and Inez Moses; brothers: Bertie Ray Brown, James Perry Brown, and Robert Brown; daughters: Cindy Love, Kathy Spahni, and Karen Gearheart; and son: Timothy Thomas.
